Posted on 2009 03, 29 by dustin

Have you ever seen an eclipse?
How would you describe it?

e•clipse (n.)
An astronomical phenomenon that takes place when one supernatural object moves into the mysterious shadow of another.

There are certain events in our lives that happen all the time. But an eclipse only happens a few times a year. It’s a rare occasion. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.

Join other middle and high school students Sunday, April 12th at 10:30 a.m. to see how you can experience a real life eclipse.

Thats gonna leave a mark!

Road Signs | Jan. 11 - Feb. 1

Posted on 2009 01, 05 by dustin

With 2008 behind us, 2009 is a year that can offer new beginnings, new decisions, and new choices. In the journey of life there are many things that help direct our paths to making those life changing commitments that could affect us for the rest of our life. In the upcoming series, Road Signs, we will look to the book of Proverbs for wisdom to help each of us navigate the choices of life, because we know that each choice determines the direction of our lives. And it is our direction, not our intention, that ultimately determines our destination. Where are you heading? What path are you on? And how do you get to where you want to go?

Lovesick | Student Series | “Questions About Dating” Poll

Over the last month the student ministry has been taking a closer look at the world’s obsession with being in a dating relationship. To help answer some tough questions, the student ministry has set up an anonymous text message poll where students (and parents) can ask any question they might have about dating, sex, and relationships.

Students can text their questions to 41411. Simply begin your text with ‘CAST lovesick‘ and then your question.

Parents can text their questions to 41411. Simply begin your text with ‘CAST parents‘ and then your question.

Students and Parents can also visit the Surge (middle school) and Hydr8 (high school) Web pages at www.stonecreekchurch.org to submit their questions in the form provided.

Students will hear the answer to their questions by a live panel in both student services this Sunday, November 2nd (Middle School, 9:30 a.m. & High School, 11 a.m.). Questions will be answered by a panel of students.

Parents - We Want Your Involvement!: Join Dustin Dozier, Director of Student Ministries, Sunday, November 9, 6 p.m. in the Student Theater to hear the questions students were asking, and the responses.

Questions? Contact Dustin Dozier at (ddozier@stonecreekchurch.org). Audio Messages from the student series can also be found on the Surge or Hydr8 page at www.stonecreekchurch.org.

Lovesick | Love Story | Oct. 26

Posted on 2008 10, 28 by dustin

When it comes to relationships with the opposite sex, whether we are dating them, crushing on them or just hanging out with them, our actions become a little bit more intentional when we consider the lasting impact we are having on their lives. Why? Because when we are in a relationship with someone, we become a part of their story, a chapter at this point in their lives. So how do we make sure that chapter is a good part of someone’s story? How do we learn to interact with the opposite sex in a way that honors and respects them and in a way that draws them closer to Christ? In other words, how do we make their story better and in turn improve our own?

1. We must Respect Others

“Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.”

1 Peter 2:17

2. We need to Guard Our Hearts

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”

Proverbs 4:23

3. Set Physical Boundaries that are pleasing to God.

“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable”

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
